Plot Summary

The plot revolves around a struggling street photographer Rafi (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), based in Mumbai, who works day and night to pay off an old family debt.Miloni is a girl for whom everything is decided by her family. From her career (she is studying for CA), to the choice of her clothes. everything. She meekly accepts their choices but yearns for her own personality and freedom. Rafi had taken Miloni's pic during his usual gig at the Gateway of India, and Miloni was passing through it. Rampyaari (Geetanjali Kulkarni) is a maid working at Miloni's house. Miloni's dad is Kanti Bhai (Sachin Khedekar). Her elder sister Saloni (Brinda Trivedi) & mother Sheilaben (Lubna Salim). she was very good at acting in school plays and won many trophies, but her family was not supportive. Anmol (Jim Sarbh) is Miloni's professor in a coaching institute where she studies. Miloni is Anmol's star student, a potential topper.Rafi's grandmother (Farrukh Jaffar) wishes to see him married and constantly pressures him to find a suitable match. The grandmother goes around the entire society looking for a bride and the entire society makes fun of Rafi for the same. Rafi's friends include Zakir Bhai (Saharsh Kumar Shukla) & Raghu (Shreedhar Dubey) Rafi convinces his grandmother by showing her a picture of a shy stranger, Miloni (Sanya Malhotra). Rafi introduces the girl as Noorie. When Rafi's grandmother further prods to introduce her to his fiance, he tracks down Miloni (he finds her photo on a billboard of the coaching institute where she studies), a student belonging to a middle-class family. Rafi convinces her to fake their relationship, to which Miloni readily agrees.Miloni learns that Rafi's parents died during childhood. He has 2 elder sisters. Miloni tells Rafi's grandmother that her parents are dead. She has no family in this world. Grandma gifts Miloni her family silver anklets. Despite the difference in their ages, culture, status and economic background, the two form a unique bond. Grandma continues to spend time with Miloni and tells her how Rafi paid for the wedding of his 2 sisters.Miloni reaches home to find her family sitting with Hasmukhbhai (Denzil Smith) and his son, who have come for a social call (but really so that Hasmukh and his son can see Miloni as a prospective bride for the son, Chintan). Chintan is going for an MBA to the US and the family wants Miloni to get married asap. Meanwhile grandma is worried that Noorie/Miloni will start earning more than Rafi. She wants Rafi to start a factory to increase his earnings potential. Miloni & Rafi bond. Miloni doesn't drink cola, as her grandfather used to treat her to Campa cola and then he died, and they stopped making Campa cola. Rafi only eats Kulfi at the end of the month as that's when his father used to take the family out for a Kulfi, at the end of each month. They even go for a movie together.One day, while spending a day at the beach, Rampyaari sees Miloni and Rafi. She doesn't say anything at home. Miloni's family asks her to go with Hasmukh's son Chintan (Manyuu Doshi) on a date. Chintan wants to stay away from his parents, but Miloni says she will prefer a simple life in the village. Miloni comes back home and rejects Chintan, dismaying the whole household.Meanwhile Rafi tries to track down any existing supplies of Campa Cola for Miloni. He finds a distributor, who says that many years ago a Parsi gentleman came and bought the formula for Campa cola, when the Campa factories were being sold and closed. His wife loved Campa, and he set up a Campa factory in his house, so his wife could continue to have Campa cola, as she always did. Anmol finds Miloni walking down the street and asks her out for coffee, and she refuses. Anmol continues to insist when Rafi arrives. Miloni leaves with Rafi.Rafi takes Miloni to his small shack near the railway station, which he shares with 3 other roommates. They share a plate of hot fritters. That night Rafi is visited by Tiwari's ghost (Vijay Raaz). Tiwari used to be a person living in the Chawl who committed suicide. Tiwari indicates that Miloni loves him as well and that he committed suicide as he could not stand the pain of being separated from the love of his life.Grandma sits Rafi down and tells him that she knows Noorie is not the real name of this girl and that she is not a Muslim. She tells Rafi to stop working too hard to pay off his father's debts. She tells Rafi to let go of the past and to start a new life. Rafi finds the house of the Parsi gentleman and finds a Campa Cola factory right there. The Parsi makes a special bottle of Campa for Rafi and asks him to serve it chilled. Rafi and Miloni go for a movie but leave halfway. Rafi says he knows the story. the couple will fall in love, but the girl's parents will object since the guy has a low-income job. They will overcome the obstacles to be together. Rafi and Miloni leave the theater.
