Summaries

Plot Summary

The film starts showing Daman Singh Bagga (Jimmy Sheirgill) and Usman Afridi (Piyush Mishra) are kidnapped by some Chinese goons and brought in Shanghai, China. Then it takes a flashback. Happy (Diana Penty) and her husband Guddu (Ali Fazal) came to Shanghai, China for a concert. Another Happy (Sonakshi Sinha), a Botany professor came to the same place to join a university as a lecturer.Things got worse at airport when the Chinese goons mistakenly kidnapped Happy 2 (Sonakshi Sinha) instead of Happy 1 (Diana Penty). They took Happy 2 in their custody and demanded a engineering contract as a ransom. The contract was actually given by Javed Ahmed and his son Billal Ahmed (Abhay Deol), the latter was a part of the previous franchise who is a close friend of Happy 1. They gave the contract to the rivals of the Chinese. So, they told Happy 2 if she could convince Billal to convince Javed to give them the contract, they will release her. Happy 2 cannot make them believe that she is not that Happy whom they are looking for.But Chang (Jason Tham), one of the goons is not ready to believe her. So, without any option he had to abduct Bagga from his wedding ceremony at Amritsar and Usman from his farewell ceremony at Lahore. Then the film backs at present. Chang told Bagga and Afridi to convince Happy 2 to do their work. But soon they learned that Happy ran away. On the other hand, Happy 1 and Guddu reached the university but there the authority told them to join the orientation program. Being clueless, they did so and began to roam around the city.At that time, Happy 2 hide in a bar where she met Khushwant Singh Gill aka Kushi (Jassi Gill) who works in Indian embassy. She hid in his car. After saw her and listen to her, Khushi was not ready to help her at first but finally he agreed. He took Happy 2 to his home. Next day, he took her to his office and met with his boss Adnan Chow (Denzil Smith), a half Pakistani and half Chinese. Adnan assured Happy that he will help her.In the meantime, Chang could find about Happy's location and went there with Bagga and Usman. After reaching there, Chang ordered them to catch Happy. But after watching Happy 2, they got confused as she was not that Happy whom they know. Soon they followed Happy 2 to Khushi's home and then Chang arrived there. Happy 2 hit Chang and he got unconscious. Soon Bagga and Usman joined with Happy 2 and Khushi. Then they went to met FAQ, Kushi's friend. Soon, they got to know that Happy 2 came China not only to join university, but also to accomplish a secret task. She actually came to find her eloped fiancee Aman Wadhwa (Aparshakti Khurana) who abandoned her two years ago. Aman ran away just before the wedding which caused immense pain to Happy 2's grandfather. So, Happy 2 traced Aman to China and now has come to confront him and to elicit an apology from him to her grandfather. Happy 2 told them that she doesn't want to make them trouble so she will complete her mission alone but Khushi along with others decided to help her.They wanted Adnan's help to find Aman and found the location. But after reaching there they got to know that Aman doesn't live there anymore. There Chang again attacked them but they eloped. At that time both Khushi and Bagga started falling for Happy 2. They both challenged each other that they will win Happy's heart. FAQ also met with Happy 1 and Guddu but couldn't identified them. Soon Happy 2 and others got to know that Chang works under Adnan and Adnan Chow is the mastermind behind all this. Actually he wanted the contract of Billal Ahmed. So when Adnan called them to know about Aman's location they lied to him.But later, they got to know that Aman is actually in a jail in Gongzhau. So, they set up a plan to meet Aman in that jail but soon get caught after trying to break in. After explaining all to the chief jailer, they finally met Aman but got shocked. They saw Aman was dancing like a girl in front of the prisoners. Soon they found that Aman is gay and he lives in this jail only to stay with his boyfriend. When Happy made him realize his fault, he agreed to apologize to Happy 2's grand father. They all left for Shanghai. Mean while, Chang finally realized that that Happy 2 is not that Happy whom they are looking for. At that night, Chang again kidnapped Happy 2 with the help of Bagga and Usman as they were drunk at that time.Next morning, Khushi received a call from Adnan. He told Khushi that he kidnapped Happy 2 and told him to bring Happy 1 to him if he wants to free Happy 2. Khushi asked everyone's help. Bagga suggested that they should arrange a concert for Guddu to find him. Aman took the responsibility for promotions. FAQ arranged the concert. Finally, at the day of concert, they finally met with Happy 1 and Guddu. After listening to them at first Guddu was not ready to help them but Happy 1 agreed as she believed that she is responsible for all this. In the meantime, Happy 2 ran away from Adnan's custody. So without Happy they went to meet Khushi. But Khushi understood their intention and began to run along with Bagga, Usman, Guddu and Happy 1.Mean while, Happy 2's grand father got to know that Happy came in China and missing for three days from her cousin and reached China with her. At that time, Happy 2 also followed Khushi to catch Adnan. After an epic funny incident, they finally caught Adnan and Chang with his gang and hand over them to police. Meanwhile, Bagga and Usman Met Happy 2's father. Happy 2 and Khushi thanked Happy 1 and Guddu for their help and took their leave. Then Happy 2 and Khushi united. After that she met with her grand father. The film ends showing that Bagga was flirting with Happy's cousin and others were laughing watching them.

Storyline

When Professor Harpreet Kaur lands in Shanghai, the last thing she would have on her mind is getting kidnapped. A crazy comedy of errors unrolls as the 'Happy' gang - Bagga, Guddu, Happy and Usmaan Miyaan - navigate through China while Harpreet, aka Happy is caught in the crosshairs.
